August Julep Maven box and Add Ons

7:18 PM

I've finally decided to show off my Julep Maven box the way it should be. I don't know why I haven't done it this way before, and I'm sorry.

Once again, I got the It Girl box. I haven't been able to pull myself away from this box yet. The colors are always so much fun, and if I happen to want a color or two from different boxes... that's what the add ons are for! Right?! So, what was in my Julep Maven box this month?

**WARNING PICTURE HEAVY**

August 2012 marks the 1 year anniversary of the Julep Maven boxes. It's pretty crazy, cause it feels like they have been around a lot longer than that. This was the little thank you note that they had on the lid of the box when you opened it up. I thought it was a really nice touch.

Metallics and chromes!! Oh, this excites me!

Each box had a special Julep bag as their anniversary present.

"Beauty is about connection. Not competition." Such a wonderful quote.

Julep - Harley, Melanie and Sienna

Then there are my add ons. This month you could pick up to 3! I was excited about it!

Julep - Piper, nail polish remover and Stefani

Julep - Harley is described on their site as, "liquid silver metallic chrome". There is no other explanation for this polish. That is the description to a T.

This is 2 coats of Harley with no top coat.

This polish went on surprisingly smooth. (Minus that miscellaneous bristle that fell off. Please pay no attention to it.) Some streaking, but no pulling.

I thought I'd feel a little overwhelmed with this color, but I wasn't in the least bit. I was very impressed with it. I think it'd be beautiful with a little black dress!

Next is Julep - Melanie. Described on their site as, "pastel indigo metallic chrome". I guess that's a good description. I'm kind of torn. I don't care if there is pastel or neon in front of it, if I hear "indigo" I think of a rich, deep, purply blue color. I suppose this would be the pastel version of that.

1 coat on my pinky and ring fingers. 2 coats on my middle finger. 3 coats on my pointer and thumb. 3 coats was perfect and brought it to full opacity.

Left to right: 3 coats, 2 coats, 1 coat. Beautiful color. Smooth formula, just like Harley. No pulling, just a little streaking (you can see the brush strokes) and it didn't dry smooth when I wrapped the nail. You can see little irregularities on my middle and ring fingers where it did weird things on the tip of the nail.

A lot softer than I thought it would be, but it's one of my favorites from my Maven box this month.

Julep - Sienna is described on their site as, "sophisticated gold metallic". What a beautiful description that is. Gold metallics have really scared me. I haven't bought any on my own because I'm just intimidated by them I think. No clue why, because this gold is gorgeous!

2 coats of Sienna, no top coat.

No pulling, no streaking, no funky tips from wrapping. Just an all around gorgeous metallic. Nothing intimidating about it! :o)

Julep - Piper is described on their site as, "mint-teal metallic chrome". To me, that's just another way of saying it's a seafoam metallic chrome. So, I think it's perfection. I picked this as an add on because I was hoping it'd be more on the mint side, but it's still pretty. Very soft and feminine.

1 coat on pinky and ring fingers, 2 coats on middle finger, 3 coats on pointer and thumb. Still some VNL after 3 coats, but I wouldn't have done any more. This color was meant to be sheer, so I wanted to keep it a little sheer.

The formulas of these metallics are fantastic! No bubbling, no pulling, no streaks, so smooth and loveable!

Julep - Stefani is described on their site as, "gold-flecked grey metallic". And there are no other words. This is my favorite from the add ons I chose.

This is 2 coats of Stefani without a top coat. It's stunning. I love hand poured concrete kitchen counter tops. There's something so cold, but so warm about them. This color reminds me of that. Which is probably why I love it so much.

You can see some of the gold flecks popping here. I love that they are just tiny glass fleck glitter. Anything more than that would be too much.

Once again, beautiful formula! I love that I had no major issues with any of these colors. As much as I love Julep, there are times where the formula is just wrong. All of these were just stunning.

Lastly, there's the nail polish remover. I made sure to use it with each one. It took them off well, but there were still smearing of glitters all over my fingers and I had to come in with my acetone to get the rest of it off my hands. Not horrible, but nothing to rave about. We all know that Zoya set the bar high with their Remove+

So, what did you think about the It Girl and the add-ons I chose?

If you're not a Julep Maven yet, and you want to be... go here. Use the code MAVENINTRO to get your first box for a penny!! After that, it's only $19.99 a month.
