PolishCon NYC 2017 VIP Bag Swatch and Review

8:32 AM

**Nothing to disclose**

As many of you know, I attended the NYC 2017 PolishCon back at the end of April. It was an amazing day, and you know what...I have zero photos to show for it. I'm a horrible blogger. I had so much fun meeting people and shopping, but I so rarely take selfies I didn't even think twice about taking pictures with everyone. The lighting was so bad, I wasn't sure any photos I took of booths would even show up. So, I enjoyed my day and lived in the moment. If you want to see pictures about the event, go check out the blog posts at The Jedi WifeThe Polished HippyQueenofNails83Beauty Judy, and Krystal Emery gave us two posts: one at her blog Polish Galore, and another for Nail It! Magazine.

I may not have taken any photos at the event, but I sure as hell took pictures of the VIP bag that came with my ticket. Ready to get a look at what was in my bag? And, yes, I swatched all the polishes for you! Let's get to it!
**WARNING PICTURE HEAVY**
This darling sheet of holo vinyl nail decals from Toadariffic Vinyls was one of the first things that caught my eye when I unbagged everything. They were a little stiffer than I was expecting, but man-oh-man, are these fantastic! I wish I used the unicorn on my thumb because it needed a flatter surface. But the star was great! I think the mermaids are a little big for even my thumbs, but I can use them on my toes!! Can't wait for that summer pedicure!

Leesha's Lacquer included a scented top coat. I was intrigued. I'm a little iffy when it comes to scented polishes. Of course I still tried it out! The scent wasn't overwhelming at all. Smelled like an open bag of Sour Patch Kids. It paired nicely with the cuticle oil I received from another brand (You'll hear more about that this summer!). This isn't currently available from the brand, but I just might be trying to change her mind.

When I saw this cuticle balm from Sassy Pants Polish, I admit...I got excited. I'm a sucker for anything plumeria scented. I used it almost immediately after taking this photo. It took everything in my power not to use it before taking the photos. I didn't want to mess it up for photographic purposes. This stuff went on smoothly and soaked into my skin in a timely manner. Absolutely fantastic stuff! Get some for yourself...HERE...for $5.99. The other scents available are: Northwoods Cabin, Strawberries & Champagne, Seduce Me, Oakmoss & Sandalwood, and Oatmeal Milk & Honey.

le Polish included these felt squares for polish removal. She includes these in boxes and stuff often, and I love every time she does. Why I don't use felt for removal purposes on a regular basis...I really don't know. But I used these, and they work great! No, you can't purchase them in her shop, but if you've been wondering about the felt removal method...it works!
Ribbits Stickits included a little strip of water slide decals. I have not figured out how to successfully work with these yet. Every time I attempt them it rolls on top of itself or slides off when I try to use top coat. But I love these and will be trying them again. I believe I can do this! Definitely take a look at the shop and see what all she has!

Ribbits Stickits information:

The bag of goodies I got from Turtle Tootsie Polishes was welcomed! I do love her polishes, but this was a chance for me to try something different from her.
The Lavender & Vanilla Sugar Scrub is wonderful! The spoon it comes with helps keep it all out from under your nails. I'm normally turned off by vanilla scented things, but this was relaxing. I started using this on Monday nights before bed. The lavender portion is relaxing. A great way to start the week...relaxed with smooth skin. You can get a 4 oz jar of this, or 19 other scents, in her shop for $6
The Watermelon Lip Balm is my new favorite product from Turtle Tootsie Polishes. The flavor isn't overwhelming, it is highly moisturizing, and it lingers for quite sometime. I don't feel the need to reapply shortly after. You can get this, or 18 other flavors, in her shop for $2. A great little add on item when you are grabbing the newest collection, or something else.

This was my first encounter with Lucky 7 Nail Oil. I'm always iffy when trying a new product from a brand I've never heard of, but I'll be honest...I'm quite impressed. It is a fragrance free product, but it has a sort of natural sweetness to it. Like a honeysuckle. The oil rubs in nicely and doesn't take forever to soak in. Quite refreshing! It may be fragrance free, but it smells heavenly to me. I'm an oil hoarder and I have a feeling I'll be getting more from them. I'd love to look into all the different bottles they have to compare them.

Lucky 7 information:

This was also my first time trying out Polish My Life. Being able to try a polish and a cream was ideal for me. I'm always looking for a good cream, and trying a new polish brand is always an exciting time!
If you've never tried her Hand & Cuticle Cream you need to hurry your ass to her shop and grab a tub! This stuff is fantastic! It doesn't leave your hands feeling oily or wet. It soaks in rather quickly, AND it dries matte. Those of you who like to use a cream when swatching, this is perfect for you! I wish I could pinpoint what scent I have, but I can't. It's light, not overwhelming, but fresh. It very well could be the unscented version. You can get a 2 oz jar for $8, and there are 6 scents to choose from (4 are currently sold out though).
Magic & Mystery on Broadway
Magic & Mystery on Broadway is a periwinkle blue crelly with silver micro flecks.
Shown is three coats of Magic & Mystery on Broadway with top coat.
Magic & Mystery on Broadway has a thinner formula than I am used to so I accidentally flooded my cuticles with the first use. The second and third coats went on flawlessly and gave me a smooth, opaque manicure. This is a beautiful polish and a great way to be introduced to the brand. I'm sorry this isn't available to purchase.
Dollish Polish is one of those brands that I always lust after but had never bought from before for whatever reason. When I saw I got a few items from them in the VIP bag, I was ecstatic!
The cuticle balm is heavenly! It practically melts to the touch and applies smoothly. The scent is straight of waffles and syrup. It reminded me of the Eggo cereal they used to have. You can get a 1.5 oz jar of this, or 16 other scents, in her shop for $5.99.
The loose glitter was a fun little addition. She sells a lot of extra nail art goodies in her shop, but I didn't see these specific ones. Definitely go check out what she has though. She has a little something for everyone.
The City That Never Sleeps
The City That Never Sleeps is a blurple jelly with copper holo glitter in multiple sizes, a beautiful mix of micro glitter in different colors, and a beautiful holo shimmer.
Shown is three coats of The City That Never Sleeps with top coat.
The City That Never Sleeps was a great introduction to the brand. It had a great formula and application, which was a little surprising because it was a mini. I'm always nervous about applications using a mini brush. Such a fantastic mix of colors! Not available to purchase.

This wasn't my first time with Fair Maiden Polish. I was late to the game as my first purchase from them was their Road to PolishCon pretty. I was blown away by that one and these were equally as fabulous.
Up to Speed top coat
Up to Speed top coat was very impressive. I was a little sad not to see it on their website though. It dried quickly with a nice glossy finish. Kinda hoping they decide to put this in the shop.
Lady Liberty
Lady Liberty is a sort of succulent green with intense copper shimmer and copper micro flecks.
Shown is two coats of Lady Liberty with top coat.
Lady Liberty is the perfect representation of its inspiration. The colors are perfect and proud. Beautiful formula and easy application. I adore this polish. A little upset my daughter felt the need to steal it and claim it as her own. Not available to purchase.

Not my first rodeo with JulieG. I got their spring trios to reviews shortly before the event, and had tried a few items from them years ago. The more I try, the more I really really like this brand. Seeing a few items I hadn't tried in the VIP bag only made me more excited.
Jet Set top coat was a welcome surprise. I go through a lot of top coat. I'm always open to trying new ones. For a drugstore brand, this was really quite good. Glossy finish and dried quickly. It is available to purchase for $3.99.
I was really happy to see the Matte Finish top coat. I tested it out, but I didn't let the polish dry enough so it was taking the matte top coat forever to turn matte on a few fingers. It did seem to work well, I just didn't get it to a point I could photograph it correctly. I've tried it again since then and really like it! A great drugstore find! It is available to purchase for $3.99.
Dolled Up Dorothy is described as "a classic ruby red with a hint of copper duocrhome".
Shown is two coats of Dolled Up Dorothy with Jet Set top coat.
Dolled Up Dorothy is a rich beautiful metallic version of a classic color. Smooth application, and no streaks that normally comes with a metallic finish. You can get this online for $3.99, I'm not sure if this color is available in stores or not.

This was my first introduction to Bluebird Lacquer, even though I did buy a polish from her at the event, and I've shown you all a few polishes from her already. I'm not a fan of minis, so I was a little sad when I saw that was what she donated to the VIP bag. Then I used the polish and I was blown away!
Participation Award is described as "a bright berry crelly with a red shimmer".
Shown is one coat of Participation Award with top coat.
Participation Award is such a bright and cheerful color, and I was blown away that it was fully opaque after one coat. Let alone a one coater polish with a mini brush. I normally have to do one extra coat when I use a mini polish, but this one was something special. It is even available to purchase for $10.

Bluebird Lacquer information:

Ever After is a brand that always puts out an incredible polish and never disappoints. I'm always excited to see what they will give us next.
Give My Regards to Broadway
Give My Regards to Broadway is a mauve crelly filled with holo shimmer and flecks.
Shown is three coats of Give My Regards to Broadway with top coat.
Give My Regards to Broadway is an absolute dream! From the unique color, to the flawless application. Not a single thing to complain about...other than I'm really sorry that this isn't available for you all to purchase.

I knew I was going to love Lavish Polish the second I saw they gave me a black polish. I'm normally such a happy person, but I love black polishes.
The City of Bright Lights
The City of Bright Lights is a black jelly filled with holo micro glitter, and metallic glitter in blue, gold, and silver.
Shown is three coats of The City of Bright Lights with top coat.
The City of Bright Lights is a thing of beauty. I have a soft spot for black based polishes. I know it's so simple and dark, but I love them! This is no exception. Impressive formula and application. Would definitely buy from again. Not available to purchase.

This is my first time trying Great Lakes Lacquer and I totally get the hype! WOW!!
Love at Grand Prospect
Love at Grand Prospect is a bright coral crelly with gold and iridescent flakes.
Shown is three coats of Love at Grand Prospect with top coat.
Love at Grand Prospect is the perfect summer polish. The color is vibrant and in your face, and the flakes add that perfect bit of depth. Stunning!! It has such an easy to work with formula and brush that it practically applies itself. Not available to purchase.
I had a bit of a head tilt moment when I saw Glisten & Glow included a simple cream polish, but OHEMGEE now I know why she did. This cream is a perfect color and an incredible formula!
Snorkel in St. Thomas is described as "a vibrant turqoise creme".
Shown is two coats of Snorkel in St. Thomas with top coat.
Snorkel in St. Thomas is the perfect blue cream. I had no issues with the application or formula. I bet this one even stamps! You can purchase this one for $7.50.
There may be some drama behind Native War Paints right now, but this is a beautiful polish. I had to show it off.
I'll Have a Manhattan
I'll Have a Manhattan is a pink-toned, dusty red with gold micro flecks, and iridescent shimmer.
Shown is three coats of I'll Have a Manhattan with top coat.
I'll Have a Manhattan is such a lovely color. I instantly fell in love with this shade It was thinner than I was expecting, but I don't mind doing three coats to reach full opacity. Definitely a surprising favorite. Not available to purchase.

I'm no stranger to Bohemian Polish. I'm one of her regular bloggers, but I adore all of her polishes. The colors, the combinations, the names...she never disappoints!
Wingardium Mimosa
Wingardium Mimosa is a sherbet orange crelly with strong gold shimmer.
Shown is three coats of Wingardium Mimosa with top coat.
Wingardium Mimosa is such a great name. Come on...you know you said it in Hermione's voice. Yeah, NOW you realize you did and you're laughing. That's what I do every time I say the name. I feel like I have a horrible case of the giggles. This polish is bright and fun and a dream to work with. Not available to purchase.

VIP'n is an absolute dream! Three thin coats will get you a fully opaque manicure and some intense dimension with the glitters. I'm in love with this polish! I think I need more ASAP. Not available to purchase.

No Sleep Til Brooklyn
No Sleep Til Brooklyn is a lavender crelly filled with iridescent glitter and flakes.
Shown is two coats of No Sleep Til Brooklyn with top coat.
No Sleep Til Brooklyn is mysterious. I usually only get that feel from darker polishes, but this shade of lavender mixed with the color shifting glitters really makes an amazing combination. Not available to purchase.
Not my first time with KBShimmer, but she does such an amazing job...each time feels like the first time. (Get your mind out of the gutter!) I know her polishes are always going to be incredible, but I'm still always so impressed. She never lets me down.
Excuse Me, I'm V.I.Purple
Excuse Me, I'm V.I.Purple is a deep eggplant purple linear holo with a slight metallic finish.
Shown is two coats of Excuse Me, I'm V.I.Purple with top coat.

My first introduction to Painted Polish and I'm ashamed I haven't tried them sooner. I love a good crelly, and this lady has absolutely perfected the crelly formula. I'm officially obsessed.
Converse & Cronuts
Converse & Cronuts is a pink crelly filled with metallic glitter in multiple sizes and colors.
Shown is two coats of Converse & Cronuts with top coat.
Converse & Cronuts is so playful and happy! Incredibly formula, smooth application. I was most impressed with the application considering it is packed with glitter. My go to pink polish for the summer for sure! Not available to purchase.
When I unwrapped this beauty from Colors by Llarowe my jaw dropped. Not my first introduction to CbL, but definitely made me question why I don't pay attention to this brand as much as I should. Mind blown.
Taxi!
Taxi! is a blue leaning purple jelly filled with red to green iridescent flakes, silver micro flakes iridescent micro flakes, a bright green flame, and a ton of holo shimmer.
Shown is three coats of Taxi! with top coat.
Taxi! is the big winner from this bag for me. Once I got this polish on my nails I almost cried when I had to take it off to swatch the next polish. In doing three coats to reach full opacity, you get a great dimension with the flakes. Not available to purchase.

My first introduction to Blush Lacquers and not my last! I've been eyeing this brand for some time. So, to see a pretty from them in my bag made me happy!
Grape Taffy
Grape Taffy is a pastel purple crelly.
Shown is three coats of Grape Taffy with top coat.
Grape Taffy is a fabulous lavender! It was a little streaky so I applied three coats to ensure an even finish and a fully opaque manicure. I used this polish in my manicure with some of the nail art items at the beginning of this post. Not available to purchase.
Not my first time with Girly Bits, but I definitely don't have nearly enough from them in my collection. This blue beauty made me extremely happy!
V.I.Polish
V.I.Polish is a muted cerulean blue holo with iridescent flakies.
Shown is two coats of V.I.Polish with top coat.
V.I.Polish applied like a dream and was perfectly opaque after only two coats. It was more a jelly base so I was expecting to have to do three coats. Pam knows what she is doing, and this polish was fabulous! Not available to purchase.

There were a few items that aren't pictured. I unloaded my bag at the hotel room and a friend was there. I decided to be nice and share. I think she grabbed a lip balm from someone and I'm not sure what else.

This bag was incredible! These makers are so very generous. There were even cards with discount codes and other items. I had a blast at the event, then I had a blast going through this bag...multiple times...reliving the day. Thank you to everyone involved! The event was amazing, a few hiccups, but nothing serious. You all put so much time and effort into what you do and it was an honor to finally meet so many of you!

I included all the links for each brand's social media platforms. Make sure you are following each one to stay updated on news, releases, and sales! You don't want to miss anything!

I know most of these aren't available to purchase, but what was jumping out at you from the VIP bag? Anything you see that you feel you need to go hunt down now?
