Iron Clad Nails Review #2

10:33 PM

I have another glitter packed polish from Iron Clad Nails for you today.

Iron Clad Nails - Blood Flow is described on their site as a "blood red with gold bars".

Blood Flow is definitely more orange than red. It's a tinted jelly base with gold bar glitter, gold micro glitter and medium sized gold hex glitter.

Left to right: 1 coat, 2 coat, 3 coats

Blood Flow didn't impress me in the bottle, nor did it on the nail by itself. Trying to layer it on top of itself was way too thick and gloopy. However, using it as a top coat instead of as a polish, it was MUCH smoother and not as fussy. Not a huge fan of bar glitter, but the ones in Blood Flow aren't jam packed so only a few come out with each dip so it didn't bother me this time around.

Left to right: Essie - Marshmallow, Zoya - ShayZoya - ZivSally Hansen - Complete Salon Manicure - Haute Chocolate and Cult Nails - Nevermore.

As seen above from pinky to thumb.

This is 2 coats of Blood Flow over 2 coats of Essie - Marshmallow. Marshmallow is a fluffy pale white jelly polish. I wanted to try white to see if it would make the base of Blood Flow look any different than on a nude based nail (like the picture below) and it doesn't really. The only difference I see is with Marshmallow, you can see the jelly like base of Blood Flow. Below it looks more creme. Other than that, this did nothing special for Blood Flow. At this point the 2 coats was better on a naked nail.

This is 2 coats of Blood Flow over 2 coats of Zoya - ShayShay is a pale nude with a slight shimmer to it. This wasn't my favorite pairing, but I really liked how the base of Blood Flow looked over Shay. The glitter... not so much. It just kind of lay there. Once again, this wasn't a special pairing.

This is 2 coats of Blood Flow over 2 coats of Zoya - Ziv. Ziv is a perfect gold foil. I was hoping this would liven up the base and help the glitter sparkle. I LOVED the way the gold peeked through the red "orange" jelly base! It was like looking at a sunrise. The glitter still didn't get to shine in this one unfortunately.

This is 2 coats of Blood Flow over 2 coats of Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Manicure - Haute Chocolate. Haute Chocolate is a beautiful deep cherry chocolate shimmer. I honestly have no idea why I grabbed this color to use as a tester, but I LOVE THIS COMBINATION!!!!! My favorite of the 5. This will definitely be a full manicure at a later date! Haute Chocolate really transformed with the tinted base and the glitter FINALLY popped. There was something so romantic about this pairing. I can't quite put my finger on it though.

This is 2 coats of Blood Flow over 1 coat of Cult Nails - Nevermore. The pairing of this glossy black and "orange" glitter is the perfect simple Halloween manicure. The tinted base doesn't stop Nevermore from taking over, but the glitter gets to take over with this pairing!

If Blood Flow was meant to be red, it needs a bit of changing, but as an orange glitter top coat it's quite fun. You can find Blood Flow and several others on their ETSY shop for $6. You can keep up with news on their Facebook page.

**This polish was provided to me for my honest review. All opinions are my own.**

Happy Polishing!!
