I'm still not sure if I'm ready for anything Valentine's Day related (even though candy and cards have been in stores for over a month here already) but, I've got the upcoming Anti-Valentine's Day Duo from Smokey Mountain Lacquer and Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer to show you all. This duo is so playful. We've got a vibrant neon pink and a shimmery turquoise. As someone who is indifferent to Valentine's Day, this duo is everything! They've had fun in the 80's with Rainbow Brite, now they are heading into the 90's with a 90's movies themed Magic 8 Box! When they told me 90's movies was the theme for the November Magic 8 Box, I was beyond excited! If you're not familiar with the Magic 8 Box, it is a box of eight polishes that is released every other month. Four brands are a constant (Philly Loves Lacquer, Smokey Mountain Lacquers, My Indie Polish, and Rica) and then there are four guest brands every month. The guest brands this month are: Cameo Colours Lacquers, Supernatural Lacquer, Darling Diva Polish, and Anchor & Heart Lacquer. These ladies had some fun with nostalgia this box. I figured we would finish this week with a bang! Did you realize it is already time for the next Magic 8 Box?! Yeah, neither did I. But here we are...in August...getting ready to take a peek at September's Magic 8 Box. UGH! I need Hermione's time turner necklace. If only to try to make time stand still for a moment or two. Anyway...the Magic 8 Box...this month's theme was Hello from Around the World. When I found out what the theme was I was really excited to see what they would do to bring these countries alive. Knowing that they could take inspiration from practically anything...or nothing...kinda made me giddy with excitement. Each maker chose a country. From there, they chose a greeting native to that country and named their polish accordingly. I've even included pronunciations and translations. Maybe you will learn a little something new in addition to enjoying the beautiful polishes!
As usual, the four permanent makers in the Magic 8 Box are: Philly Loves Lacquer, Smokey Mountain Lacquer, Rica, and My Indie Polish. The four makers they invited to go on this month's journey with them are: Doctor Lacquer, Scofflaw, Lollipop Posse Lacquer, and Drip Drop Nail Paint. I was happy that I had three new (to me) brands to try this time around. Such a fun way to get to try new brands!

Calling all 80's babies and those who love rainbows!! The July Magic 8 Box theme is Rainbow Brite!!! I may have squealed a little when they told me the the theme a while back. I could not wait for this box to get to my house. I was that crazy person hitting refresh on my computer, just waiting for it to tell me the mail person had dropped it off. I barely had time to open my box when I got notice that one of the polishes needed to be replaced. I hid the polishes so I wouldn't be tempted to swatch them without the replacement. Issues were taken care of and the replacement arrived, and I think I may have put my kid to bed early that night so I could jump into these pretties.
For those of you that don't know, the Magic 8 Box is a box that is released every other month with 8 full sized polishes. Each month has a different theme. The four main brands that are in every box are Philly Loves Lacquer, Smokey Mountain Lacquers, Rica, and My Indie Polish. Then, each box will have four guest brands. The guest brands for the Rainbow Brite themed box are Contrary Polish, Dreamland lacquer, Poetry Cowgirl Nail Polish, and Candied Apple Polish. Okay, is that good enough? You can tell that Kim, the creative genius behind Smokey Mountain Lacquer, had a lot of fun creating this collection. Each color is like a piece of summer in a bottle. I may not be a fan of summer, the beach, or heat in general, but I sure as hell can appreciate some beautiful polish when I see it! Keep reading to see swatches of these beauties!

Who is ready for an 80's love song sing-a-long?! Yeah, get ready, because you're about to have a whole lotta ear worms up in your head. I was invited to swatch and review the March 2016 Magic 8 Box. March's theme is 80's love songs. What a fantastic theme they chose! Also, are you noticing anything different? Yeah, there are 8 polishes in that picture, and yes, that says Magic 8 Box. The Beauty Quartet Box is no more. These wonderful ladies had so much fun with them, they decided to expand. Every box will contain polishes from Philly Loves Lacquer, Smokey Mountain Lacquer, My Indie Polish, and Rica. They will invite 4 other indies to join in each box. This time around they brought in Delush Polish, Pipe Dream Polish, Native War Paints, and ALIQUID Lacquer. I, for one, am loving this change. The more the merrier I like to say!

I was recently gifted my very first Smokey Mountain Lacquers polish. It was one of the beauties I've had on my wish list. I was beyond excited when it showed up. I was in tears. Such a wonderful gesture from a lovely friend I've met within the polish community. I couldn't wait to put it on. You guys...if you are a lover of purple polishes, YOU NEED Blackberry Jam.
