Pretty and Polished August Beauty Box Swatch and Review

11:55 AM

**Press Samples**

Let's start this week off with a last call. You all have had the chance to get Pretty & Polished's August Beauty Box as a mystery. Today, I've got swatches of the box for those of you who need swatches before you buy something. The August Beauty Box is only available until July 31st. That means you only have 1 week left to get these pretties! My kiddo is already driving me bonkers so we are going to jump right in!

**WARNING PICTURE HEAVY**
Peridot
Peridot is a muted lime green crelly with green holo glitter and a dusting of holo shimmer.
Shown is two coats of Peridot with top coat.
Peridot is the perfect green for those of you who love green but not a huge fan of the overly bright in your face shades. I almost did a third coat of this, then something stopped me. Two coats was perfection. Just the right amount of VNL and the right amount of opacity. The amount of glitter was spot on. There wasn't a damn thing more I wanted from this polish. Well, other than to not have to take it off to swatch something else. That was the only downside to this. Smooth application, easy to work with formula. Spot on!

Waterworks
Waterworks is a cream colored crelly (with maybe a hint of blue) filled with metallic blue micro glitter and small hexes.
Shown is two coats of Waterworks with top coat.
Waterworks is like the icing on the cake for crelly lovers. Same perfect formula and application as Peridot. When I had this on, it reminded me of a fashion inspired post I saw the other day and I can't for the life of me remember whose it was. It was a nude dress with blue lace I believe. It was stunning. And the blogger's mani was equally as gorgeous. I'm not a nail art person so I'd never be able to recreate it. This polish is as close to that as I would ever get. This is nail art in a bottle for me. I love everything about it!

Scorched
Scorched is a root beer brown jelly filled with holo shimmer.
Shown is three thin coats of Scorched with top coat.
Scorched is a great addition to this box! I love blue, green, and brown together! In a world that has been full of neons and pastels and brights lately, this box is almost a nice palate cleanser. The thing I like about Scorched is that yes, I did three coats of it here, but I did thin coats as I don't like my jellies to be super thick...at the same time, using it to accent the other two polishes with nail art, you don't need to do several layers for it to stand out. Wonderfully smooth application. Not thick at all. Easy to work with. All around delight!

And now, for this month's little something extra. Each box will get a different mini polish. The one I received is from an upcoming collection. So take this as your first sneak peek!

'N Cream
'N Cream is a milky white crelly with matte peach hex glitter in several sizes.
Shown is two coats of 'N Cream with top coat.
'N Cream is another flawless crelly! (Chelsea is definitely on a crelly roll here!) I'm not a fan of minis, but I found this one very easy to use and work with. I didn't have to use double the brush strokes to cover my nail, or hurt my wrist to pose with the bottle. I was pleasantly surprised! The nude was a great addition to the other three. I loved that I would be able to use all four polishes in an attempt at nail art (you'll see that if you keep reading). Since this one will change for everyone, I do look forward to seeing what everyone gets in their Beauty Box!

And because I am working on broadening my nail polish horizons, and because I enjoy the feedback and tips from you all, I did do nail art with all four polishes. It was simple, but I wanted you all to see that the polishes would work together in some form.

Nail Art
Clockwise from top left:
- 2 coats of 'N Cream with 2 coats of Scorched "dripping" down the nail.
- 2 coats of 'N Cream
- 2 coats of 'N Cream with w coats of Peridot and 2 coats of Waterworks freehanded in angles.
-2 coats of 'N Cream with dots in Scorched.
