I missed you all last week!! My nails are just being so finicky lately though. I had to give them a rest. They still aren't completely better, but being away for a week drove me nuts! Didn't like that! I'm back today!!!
I've got some fun little 3D flowers from Born Pretty Store to show you all! I've flipped past these a few times and just fly by them. They are cut from fimo sticks and they aren't normally appealing to me. I have smaller nail beds and they always seem so large. I do believe that you should try everything at least once. Something about these flowers were so cute and I knew they were the ones I needed to try. It's a little wheel with 12 different flowers...1 in each section. (Well, supposed to be 12 different flowers. This one turned out to be 11 flowers and a smiley face. That was a bit disappointing, but I can deal with it.)
They are easy to handle when taking them out of the container, but they were softer than I was expecting. I really don't know what I was expecting, but they folded a bit when I grabbed them with my tweezers. It didn't take much time to get to used to handling them, so that was good. However, because they were cut from fimo sticks, each one is a different width. Each one gave in different ways, but I never over folded or broke any of them.
I kept my design simple because my tiny nails didn't allow for elaborate design. I wanted to show off the flowers as best as I could. I chose 5 of my favorite ones and paired them with colors from the new China Glaze Summer Neons collection to make this fun skittle mani.
On my pinky, I used two coats of Highlight of My Summer, a soft mint green creme. I then added two milky white flowers with soft yellow centers after I added top coat.
On my ring finger, I put two coats of Neon & On & On, a bright neon pink creme that has slight orange undertones which puts it on the verge of being a coral. After I tossed on top coat, I added three flowers that had an almost southwest feel to me. I know pink and the southwest don't really go together, but with the teal on the tips...I liked them together.
On my middle finger, I added three coats of Keepin' It Teal, a beautiful teal jelly. I then added three beautiful flowers after putting on the top coat. As soon as I caught a glimpse of these flowers, I knew that I was going to pair them with this color. They are perfect together!
On my pointer finger, I used two coats of That's Shore Bright, a bright purple creme. I love grey and purple together, so I paired it with a flower that had yellow petals that are outlined in grey.
On my thumb, I used three coats of Heat Index, a hot pink jelly. Pink and blue...the classic combination. I chose a bright blue flower with 5 pointed petals that make them look more like stars. I could fit 4 on my thumb (plus these were a smaller size).
The flowers were extremely easy to work with. Getting used to how much pressure to use when gripping them with the tweezers was not an issue. Placing them on my nails was even easy. The only issue I had was that after placing the flowers on my nails and the top coat dried, the flowers curled up. You can see where the majority of them curled in the pictures. It's not terrible, but they did get caught on things. I even originally press them down to fit my nail. I really would use these again. I'm glad I finally took the chance on them.
