LynBDesigns Christmas Kitsch
10:54 AMHappy Monday to all!!! Today is the start of my birthday week!! My birthday is Friday the 14th! The big 3-1! I'm not thrilled about it, but it's my birthday, so the excitement Trumps the sting of getting older. Because it's my birthday week, I'm showcasing a wonderful indie company ALL week long! One new polish every day.
The wonderful, Jenna at LynBDesigns sent me her entire "Hometown Holiday" Collection to review. Look at these adorable labels!
Left to right: Christmas Kitsch, Reindeer Games, Snowball Fight, Trimmed Out Tree and Ugly Sweater Party
...And all this lovely glitter!!!!
In above order.
Now, you all know what my next problem was...
WHICH ONE DO I DO FIRST?! When in doubt, alphabetical order!
Without further ado, I give you...
LynBDesigns - Christmas Kitsch
Christmas Kitsch is a wonderful clear base filled with multiple colors and sizes of square glitter.
Left to right: 1 coat, 2 coats, 3 coats
The base coat on Christmas Kitsch has the same consistency in all 5 of the polishes I was sent. I absolutely LOVE it. It's thin, but not too watery. The glitter stays perfectly suspended and doesn't sink. But I love that, at 3 coats it wasn't thick and heavy. And even at 1 coat, there was so much glitter. I was more than pleased! No pulling or dabbing to get glitter placed. No fishing for glitter to get on the brush either.
This is three coats of Christmas Kitsch.
I loved how very thin the glitter in Christmas Kitsch is. Some it seemed you could see through. It made for great layering and gave the 3 layers so much depth.
Christmas Kitsch is so colorful and fun, you can't help but smile when you see it.
Left to right: Pomegranate Lacquer - Dreamscape, OPI - Lighten Up, You're Two Pence, Zoya - Kieko, SinfulColors - Folly and Cult Nails - Deal With It.
As seen above from pinky to thumb.
This is one coat of Christmas Kitsch over two coats of Pomegranate Lacquer - Dreamscape. Dreamscape is a pale pink creme. It definitely gave Christmas Kitsch a softer side. I would probably do this again on an accent nail or two. You really see all the glitter and nothing ends up blending into the background.
This is one coat of Christmas Kitsch over two coats of OPI - Lighten Up, You're Two Pence. I thought this might be a fun and different pairing, because there are some tiny pieces of glitter around this same color. Turns out, it was all wrong. A little was better than a lot. This pairing fell flat.
This is one coat of Christmas Kitsch over two coats of Zoya - Kieko. Kieko is a beautiful, "warm red-toned dusty purple with berry tones". I love Kieko, but she was too bright for Christmas Kitsch. I should have used a lilac or lavender instead. Not horrible, but Christmas Kitsch just isn't shown off as it should be here.
This is one coat of Christmas Kitsch over two coats of SinfulColors - Folly. Folly is another one that was just too bright. It seems to distort the colors of some of the glitter. Both beautiful polishes, but they just shouldn't go together.
This is one coat of Christmas Kitsch over two coats of Cult Nails - Deal With It. Deal With It is a bright green jelly filled with gold shimmer. This was a fun pairing! They complimented each other well, neither one stealing the show. Christmas Kitsch is a catch! You just need to pair it with the right color and shade.
Christmas Kitsch is a fun and vibrant glitter! If you're a fan of square glitter and bright colors, I highly recommend you grab this beauty! So very easy to work with and not a bad word to say about it. I'm already thinking of new manicures to do with it.
To pick up Christmas Kitsch or any of the other amazing polishes Jenna has, head over to her ETSY shop and pick up a few for $8 a bottle. Trust me you won't be disappointed! While you're at it, head over and "Like" her Facebook page. There, you can keep up with any swatches, news and sales.
